Witch bells
Traditionally speaking, bells have been used throughout differing cultures and societies, both for spiritual and mundane reasons, as well as for protection. Bells have long been associated with protection in the sense that bells would be used as an alarm or a warning of impending disaster or danger. The word bell literally translates as: “to roar” or “to make a loud noise” – as if to bellow. Bells can be hung near the main entry of your home to protect and guard your living spaces, like in the use of Witch's Bells.
Witch's bells are meant to ward off evil before it even enters your home. It was believed that loud sounds, like those from bells or chimes, would scare off ghosts, demonic entities, or anything with evil intent. When hung on the door of your home, bells can bring positive energy, protection, and prosperity. You can enchant bells to be protectors or to bring cheer to any home each time they move and ring.

This is an example of custom Witch's bells I made for my own home.
I hand wove the spider's web onto the main ring, incorporating knot magic and tying a certain number of times.
The spiders actually happen to be the bells, and I added keys and a bottle of lavender hanging with them.
Everything was then adorned with layers of black and purple wax.
The final touch was a lavender sprig in the web and onto my front door it went!
I happen to be obsessed with spiders and one of my spirit guides, Loki, is also fond of them so that is part of why I chose this nontraditional route for my witch's bells. Purple is my favorite color, a magical color, and one associated with Hecate, while black is for protection, and well, contrast. Lavender is the woman's herb, my personal favorite herb, and it brings peaceful thoughts, relaxation, happiness, and protection. The keys also have to do with Hecate.
